Decadence and the Senses took place at Goldsmiths College, 10-11 April 2014.
We would like to thank all of you for attending Decadence and the Senses, especially those who gave papers. It was lovely to meet all of you and to hear about such a fascinating range of research interests. Your enthusiastic participation made it a really special event. We are very grateful to our student helpers for all your hard work, and to all our panel chairs.
Special thanks go to Catherine Maxwell for a tuberose-scented Keynote address which got the conference off to a truly multi-sensory start, and to David Weir for rounding off with such an engaging paper.
Decadence and the Senses was generously supported by the English and Comparative Literature Department and the Modern Humanities Research Association. Many thanks also go to Richard Bolley and Maria MacDonald for their administrative support, to Shivi Hotwani and Caroline Rondel from Goldsmiths Conference Services, and to Gary Howells for enthusiastically devising and preparing the Black Buffet.
Thanks again and best wishes,
Decadence and the Senses Conference Organisers
